Fürstenberg/Havel

The heart of the Fürstenberg Lake District beats in the water town of Fürstenberg/Havel. What could be more fitting than the name "water town" for a place that has grown up on three islands and opens the gateway to the Mecklenburg Lake District. Enjoy this all-round view here in advance of your holiday, offered by the 360-degree tour. Surrounded by the Havel River and situated between Lake Baalen, Lake Schwedt and Lake Röblin. And equipped with Germany's best environmental values to boot. With the construction of the Nordbahn railway in the 1870s, Berliners discovered Fürstenberg and its surroundings as a worthwhile destination for a summer getaway.

The Röblinsee settlement on the southern shore of the lake of the same name was built during this time and still offers a high quality of life between water and forest. Located 80 kilometres north of Berlin, the region is easily accessible by various means of transport. The regional express RE 5 runs every one hour and only takes a good 60 minutes from the main railway station to the water town. A dark chapter of German history is associated with the name of the village of Ravensbrück. The sorrowful history of the former women's concentration camp is documented today in the memorial.

The first documentary mention took place in 1287. Buildings such as the old castle (12th century) or the baroque palace (mid-18th century) are striking stone witnesses of times gone by. The historic town centre with the impressive church as its focal point invites you to take a walk in the footsteps of earlier settlers.

Many events throughout the year provide entertainment for locals and guests alike. The "Brandenburg Water Festival", which is celebrated every year in July, is well-known beyond the region. And as the name suggests, everything revolves around the theme of water.
