Steinförde

Steinförde is located on the edge of the Stechlin-Ruppiner Land Nature Park - the westernmost of all Fürstenberg's districts, surrounded by extensive forests, the Havel River and many lakes. Steinförde is an ideal starting point for walks, hikes and cycling tours. Many well-marked paths along the Steinhavel, on the shores of the Small and Large Glietzen Lakes, to the northern bay of the Stechlin Lake or around the Peetsch Lake make nature hearts beat faster. Here you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the village digitally.

The Berlin-Copenhagen long-distance cycle route and the Mecklenburg Ice Age Route pass through the quiet village and connect the municipal districts of Steinhavelmühle, Kleinmenow on Lake Ziernsee and Großmenow on Lake Ellbogensee. At the Peetschsee, a clear-water lake, is the "Augustablick" lookout point. It offers a magnificent view over the beautifully situated lake. This spot was named after Grand Duchess Augusta Caroline, who discovered this place and made it her favourite vantage point. A memorial stone at the top of the steps still commemorates the Grand Duchess. If you follow the natural direction of flow of the so-called Steinhavel in Fürstenberg/Havel from Lake Röblin, you will soon discover a landscape created in an exemplary manner by the last Ice Age. Typical beech and oak forests on one side and pine stands on the other are separated by the natural riverbed of the Havel.

Above the Steinhavel lock, a water hiking rest area invites you to linger during a boat trip through the waters of Mecklenburg and Brandenburg.
