The hike, which starts in Feldberg, is divided into 10 stages and crosses three of Brandenburg's National Natural Landscapes: the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park, the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve and the easternmost protected area in the state: the Lower Oder Valley National Park.

A landscape shaped by the Ice Age can be admired along the entire route. Channel lakes and terminal moraines alternate, overlaid by meadows, fields and many forests. But not only sandy pine forest lies along the way, but also diverse mixed deciduous forests with beech and oak trees. This sparsely populated region near the Oder River is characterised by rustic swamp and floodplain forests along old river branches, which are lined with sedge meadows and reed beds. Throughout Europe, this area is considered the most intact floodplain landscape and forms a paradise as a breeding, resting or wintering place for water birds.

Alternatively, you can start in Fürstenberg/Havel, accessible by RE5 directly from Berlin. The hiking trail runs via Himmelpfort to Lychen and is also marked with the hiking sign. In Lychen it then meets the main route, which continues via Templin and Angermünde into the Oder Valley.
