The tour leads almost 30 km directly along the banks of the Finow Canal. Peace and idyll characterise the landscape, which is rich in water and forest. Accordingly, you experience the flora and fauna very closely along the way. The Finow Canal is the oldest artificial waterway still in operation in Germany. Where once barges were towed by muscle power and horsepower, the waterway is now dedicated exclusively to tourism. Whether on water or on land, the Finow Canal tells the story of industrial history.

The twelve historic and today still manually operated locks as well as the numerous industrial monuments, some of which have been restored, bear witness to the former Märkische Wuppertal. The tour along the Finow Canal can be shortened at Eberswalde station or extended to Liebenwalde, along the Finow Canal. In Niederfinow it is also worth making a detour to the two boat lifts or to Oderberg, 10 km further away.
