The approx. 220 km long Queen Luise Route follows in the footsteps of the Prussian Queen Luise, who died in 1810. The route begins in the town where she died, Hohenzieritz near Neustrelitz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and ends in Paretz near Ketzin in the Havelland. The southern part of the route leads from the burial site in Charlottenburg Palace Park via Peacock Island with the Luisen Temple to Paretz Palace, the former summer residence of Queen Luise and her husband Friedrich-Wilhelm III. The palace was built at the end of the 18th century by David Gilly. The furnishings include the famous Paretz paper wallpapers. The entire ensemble of palace, park and village is a prime example of Prussian rural architecture.
Signposts
A black coat of arms with a white 'L' and a crown serves as the trail designation.
Nature
The cycle path runs along sections of the following cycle paths: Havel Cycle Path, European Cycle Path R1 and Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Path.
The Berlin section is not signposted and runs partly on the road through residential areas.
From Ketzin ferry to Paretz, the path is partly unsurfaced and narrow.
