Gransee - In the footsteps of Queen Luise

Gransee - In the footsteps of Queen Luise, pictured: the town wall

Gransee was once called the firmest town in the county of Ruppin. The town wall with its gates is very well preserved. Sights include the parish church of St. Mary and the monument to Queen Luise.

Lake Stechlin is only a few kilometres away from Gransee. Theodor Fontane set a literary monument to the largest clear-water lake in northern Germany.

Meseberg Castle is one of the most beautiful baroque castles in Brandenburg. The Federal Government uses the castle near Gransee as a guest house.
