Her dream of owning her own restaurant also fulfils her desire to find her way back to Brandenburg after many years in Berlin and abroad. After her apprenticeship at the Maritim Hotel on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin and several years working there at the bar and later in the organisation team for banquets and events with up to 2,000 people, she spent two years in Australia in the meantime to brush up on her English, but also to finance her stay with jobs. From picking oranges, to working in Michelin-starred restaurants in Adelaide, to working on farms - taking care of the animals, driving them to pastures and bringing them back in the evening - and working as a cook, her everyday life in Australia provides Genenvieve Tomacka with many experiences. The young, down-to-earth Uckermärker has even milked water buffalo herself, not overseas, but on a farm near Mittenwalde, shortly before the start of the Corona pandemic.

Culinary delights will be more down-to-earth in the "Kleeschen" in future, for example schnitzel and Königsberger meatballs. "Above all, it should taste like grandma's," says Genevieve Tomacka. "But there will be a bit of shi shi, like a good fruit chutney to decorate and crown our hearty rural cuisine." One thing is important to the restaurateur: "Our dishes should be modern and smartly presented." Open for you: Tuesdays from 12 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays to Sundays from 12 to 8 p.m., Mondays off.
