Solid House Badingen
The Feste Haus and the adjacent church were built before the Thirty Years' War. The former Renaissance castle has undergone major changes in its appearance over the centuries and today, unfortunately, its exterior no longer has much in common with the building on the copperplate engraving of 1652 - the earliest representation that has survived to the present day.
Even after restoration work, the church has been preserved in its original architectural form as a hall church with a transverse west tower and an indented choir. It served as a burial place for the von Trott family, who received the site from the Electors of Brandenburg in 1551. In 1895, the family tomb was discovered in front of the main altar. On the northern wall of the choir, a carved funerary shield decorated with the family coat of arms for Georg Friedrich von Trott, who died in 1666, has been preserved.
Today, the Feste Haus is used for events and houses a local history room. Visits are possible by appointment.
