The landscape conservation area between Lake Baalen, Lake Schwedt and the Havel is an insider's tip for active people. They can hike along a circular route on winding paths and small inclines and, on top of that, try out sports and fitness equipment along the way. There is also a bathing area at Lake Baalen. The park was originally created around 1900 by the sawmill owner Joachim Zimmermann. He is said to have brought back exotic plants from his travels. More than 30 species of deciduous and coniferous trees can be discovered here on a tree nature trail. Halfway along the circular route, a branch leads to the technical monument of the railway ferry.

The ferry, built in 1934, is now dry. At that time, the 34-metre-long and five-metre-wide steel construction mainly transported railway wagons with goods. The Havel River lay between the tracks of the former fibre factory near Havelpark and the railway line. At the time, the shipping office had not approved a fixed bridge over the river. So the railway ferry transported goods of up to 170 tonnes to the other bank in five minutes: wood for the fibre factory, materials for armament production, fuel for the Soviet troops, tree trunks for a sawmill. But prisoners from the Ravensbrück concentration camp were also ferried on it for forced labour in the surrounding factories. In 1993, the boat was finally decommissioned and sank. In 2013, it was salvaged and refurbished as part of a school project.
