Müritzeum - The NatureExperienceCentre

The Müritzeum is a multimedia nature experience center. Fascinating, entertaining and informative, simple and understandable, it presents the vacation region around the Müritz.

In Deutschlands größter Aquarienlandschaft für heimische Süßwasserarten taucht man unter die Wasseroberfläche der Mecklenburgischen Seen.

On the forays through forest, bird and water worlds in the House of 1000 Lakes, the visitor encounters the king of the air, a thousand-year-old tree giant and the tiniest forest dwellers. You can explore the Müritz National Park from a bird's eye view and stand eye to eye with a shoal of vendace. In the aquarium, you follow a river from its source to its mouth and get to know over 50 native fish species, plus crayfish, water snails and turtles.

The experiential exhibitions are scientifically supervised and are based on the unique and over 150-year-old Natural History State Collections for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which are preserved in a second historic building. There, in the House of Collections, you can also interactively follow in the footsteps of researchers. Exciting environmental education programmes for young and old and changing special exhibitions sharpen the eye for the beauties of our native nature.

Kapitän ans Steuerrad und Leinen los! Spiel und Spaß haben die jüngsten Besucher auf dem Piratenschiff, wenn sie den Abenteuerspielplatz im Garten entern oder die Pumpe am Wasserspielplatz in Gang setzen, während sich die Großen im Museumsgarten rund um den idyllischen Herrensee entspannen.

The Müritzeum is family-friendly and barrier-free. Dogs can also take part in the excursion here.

A stroll through the nearby, cozy old town of Waren and/or a boat trip on the largest inland lake in northern Germany round off the day in the Müritz metropolis.
