Fürstenberg lock
The Fürstenberg lock is located at kilometre 60.70 of the Upper Havel Waterway in Fürstenberg/Havel in the district of Oberhavel. It is located in the connection between the Röblinsee and the Baalensee to the east of the road bridge of the federal road 96.
An inspection in 2004 revealed considerable structural deficiencies in the entire lock system. In 2009, the construction contract for a new lock was awarded, which was carried out between September 2009 and June 2010. The construction costs amounted to about 7 million euros and were borne by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration.
Since the Upper Havel Waterway is no longer used by cargo ships and is only frequented by a few small passenger ships, it has developed into a popular area for pleasure boats of all sizes and classes.
